Reading Break

It's reading break people!!! It's time to read! Lol , obviously! :D

Sooo, I'm supposed to catch up with assignments and do some readings! Of course, that's always the plan. To do this and that, but what makes me nervous is that, I sometime screw up my own perfect plans. I often find myself discouraged as a result. I thought I was gonna watch movies for just few minutes, but then I ended up finishing the whole episodes.
***I sometime stay up all night to just finish the movie! :/

What makes me so nervous is that, it's a week long, and often time I find myself distracted. I want to do something else instead of doing what I'm supposed to be doing. If I happen to screw up my plans, I'll be devastated and losing hope. It's hard to get myself back up sometime :(

I know, I know, we are human, we make mistakes! We screw up! We're not perfect! :/
We have to forgive ourselves, and ask, "What can I learn from my mistakes?! How are these mistakes gonna make me a better person?!" and of course, this takes time and lots of practise to build the skill. But nothing's impossible ;)

Anyway, happy reading break people! I'll tell you how my break goes! I'll see you until then! ;D

Article summary - Environmental Log

Sooooo, I'm supposed to summarize an article that I've just read :D

It's about arctic melting. Why is it such an issue?! Well, as y'all now that the arctic is melting! It's global warming people!!!! And that's bad because our fresh water comes from the arctic. As you can imagine, if the arctic is melting, then how on earth will we be able to get fresh water?! If you live in developed countries (like Canada) you'll be fine because you pretty much hold the source of water. But what about the developing countries (like Indonesia for example?!). How will countries like Indonesia survive? Can Indonesia keeps asking fresh water from Canada?!
Well, yes to some extend. Most of Canadian are generous, but the source of fresh water will decrease eventually. So then what?! Where we all get the fresh water after that?!

Then the article also talks about the habitat that might have been affected due to arctic melting. The polar bears live in the arctic, sooo if the arctic is melting, then where will they go?! What about their foods, how will they get their foods?!

The article also talks about that snow absorbs the sun. Sooo, if the snow is melting, then what will absorb solar light?! The solar light, will be reflected back to the space, and reflect back to the earth. That's how the earth gets warmer.
***I'm sorry guys if this sounds confusing. This is how my thought processes :D This is just to test me if I understand what I'm reading :/

Hmmm, what else did the article talk about?!

Well, the scientist predicted that the earth is warmer faster now than decades ago. This is a bad sign. Because if the earth is melting, then this results in arctic melting. If the arctic is melting, where will we get our fresh water?! If we don't drink water, then how will we survive?! If you're like me who drink water excessively, Oh noooo, what should we do?!!

Report:

By the way, my friend and I got 26/30 which is pretty good mark. Alhamdulillah ;)

Conversation

The voice inside: C'mon Eva, it's just one midterm. It's not the end of the world :)

Eva: I know, but why does it feel like it is the end of the world?! :(

The voice inside: But, ALLAH is with us. We just need to do our part, which is to try our best, and leave the rest to ALLAH. He's gonna take care of the result. Whatever it is, He's only gonna give the best result. We just need to trust Him ;)

Eva: Okay, I'll try my best. Please pray for me :)

The voice inside: Insya ALLAH, I will ;)

Feb/15/2013: I was so stressed out because of this midterm, and at the time it did feel like that's the end of the world :D Anyway, I tried my best so I didn't have any regret and I got 71/80, Alhamdulillah :D

What scares me the most

The one thing that scares me the most is not having what I've always wanted, but it is losing ALLAH in my heart because I finally have what I've always dreamed of having, but fail to thank Him for every gifts that He has given . . .

I feel like I live in Mars

I just finished working, it's 11:56pm to be exact. I know I know it's late, but what can I do? It's Christmas season. Our store has been busy all weeks, well until 25th of December at least. We're closed at 10pm and we had to stay until 11pm to clean up the isles, to put all the returns, sweep and mob, and not to mention vacuuming. It's was good enough that our key holder is awesome! She helped out and did the vacuuming for us. And our manager hired another merchandisers/chasier to help out. He actually did the sweeping for us. I know, I'm still grateful to have these people at work, which is huge thanks to ALLAH. Alhamdulillah ;)

Anyway, what does this talk have to do with my title tonight?

Well, the thing is, when we were hanging out tonight, I felt like I didn't belong. Like a stranger almost. They had so much fun together. Saying things which I didn't understand. I just laughed with them. But to be honest, I was laughing with myself. Hehe. Man, what was I supposed to do? Carry the dictionary and look up the words they say? Sometime I tell them that I'm trying to translate the things they say. They were okay if sometime I don't understand what they say. They know I wasn't born or raised here. It's just me who feel uncomfortable sometime. But mostly, I just smiled and showed them, what a nice person I am :D hehe

And I really feel like I've moved to Mars! The language is different, the culture, the food, the jokes, the gossip, hehe, EVERYTHING! I feel like a stranger. Sometime I wonder, if I move to Malaysia at least, would I feel this way?  Or Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, instead of Aceh? Would I feel like a stranger? Would I feel like, I live in Mars?

Anyway, I choose to live here because I have BIG DREAMS! Of course, if you want more in life, then you gotta do more. Nothing comes easy. It always comes with challenges. So yeah, hang in there me, Insya ALLAH, I'll be okay cuz ALLAH will take care of me.

Have a good night everybody! I'll see you soon, Insya ALLAH :D

First and second driver

I just got home from work. It's late because it's Christmas season. The place where I work was really busy. We also had to stay late. I was lucky though because my manager allowed us to leave whenever we're done. Anyway, she's awesome! :D

On my way home, there was these two drivers I met tonight. Unfortunately, I had to take two buses home. I know it sucks, but hey, it's only two buses? Imagine if I had to take 3 or 4 or 5 buses?
The point is, I need to learn how to be more grateful! :D

Anyway, that's not what I'm gonna talk about tonight. It's about these two drivers who I met tonight.

Okay, here's the story.

I missed my first bus, therefore I had to catch another bus that goes to my house.
***There are two buses I could catch that goes to my house.

Sooo, I got on to the bus. I asked if  the driver could let me off in the red light. He said, "No, I can't".
Of course you can, if you want it to. Haha. I didn't say this. But this was how I felt. I know that he's not supposed to stop and let me off there. But, it was just late at night. It's around 11pm. I know that we have to follow the rule and all, but still.

Imagine, if you're the bus driver and there's this very cute girl(hehe) who just finished working, asking if she could get off in the nearest stop? So that she can catch her bus? And it's already 11pm and really cold outside, what would you do? If I were the bus driver, I would definitely let her get off. I mean, c'mon! I know that we have to follow the rule. But understanding of the situation is important as well, isn't it?

And the strangest part was that, when I got on my second bus. I tried to ask the driver so that he could let me get off in the red light. He said yes! Can you believe it? And he said, he understand. It's cold out there. ***I also added that it's late at night.

What's the lesson behind this situation?

I know it is important to follow the rule, but we need to understand the situation as well. Looking at my situation, it's cold and it's late. The driver needs to consider these things. I can understand if the driver won't let me off if it's day time. That will be the whole different scenario.
***And with the second driver, I wish him the best of luck. He's made a different in my life tonight!

Anyway, if you happen to be the driver in this situation, please try to be more understanding. Once again, it is important to follow the rule, however, sometime understanding is really the key ;)

My test and wisdom behind it

Welcome to my University :)

Back from Aceh, I really thought I was gonna rock my university life!

I planned to be a book-worm, a nerd, or whatever you'd call it. First of all, I love studying, okay! LOL. Second of all, I really want to finish in four year, and be an honour student at the same time. Is it too big of a dream?! I mean, I was never a straight A's student. Let alone an honour student. Let me repeat that, an honour student????!!!
I was just a regular student, with an average mark. I never even think of getting an A in even one class! It's like a major no-no! Like, hello, wake up, it won't happen!

But this year, I'm calling for a CHANGE! I really want to prove me wrong!

So, in my first year, I studied like CRAAZY! I stayed in the library, studying! I stayed at Tim-Hortons (which is a coffee-shop), studying! Everywhere, I try to study! I reduced my shift at work. To do what? Duh, study of course! But it didn't happen, I didn't get any A's. In fact, I got Academic Warnings! Awesome, isn't it?

Just when you thought things couldn't possibly go wrong, guess what, they do!

So, if you ask me, what was the problem? Then, let me tell ya :D

Well, the first problem was, I was worried! I was worried too much. I was worried about future, such us : how to pay for my tuition without applying for student loans, how to finish in four years and be an honour student, how can I be qualify for scholarships, on top of that, how can I manage my time between ALLAH, myself, family and friends, school and clubs, and work. So much in one plate!

And the second problem was, I wasn't sure! I wasn't sure if this is what I wanted to do in life. I mean, is becoming a psychologist is what I want to be? And what will I do for a living? Cuz they say Psychologists don't make a lot of money. For me, money is not everything, but guess what, everything needs money!

And the third problem was, I wasn't confident enough to believe that I could do it. Will I get As in my classes? Will I be an honour student? Will I be qualified for scholarships so that I can pay my school fees? I mean, this is huge for someone who hasn't gotten any As in her life! ***Try to put yourself in my shoes people! :P

And many problems that aren't identified as well (Cuz I'm still trying to figure out what they are!).
So you could say, I was pretty much galau at the time.

As a result, I didn't take any classes from my major for two semesters. I ended up taking classes that weren't part of my major. Like I said, I needed sometime to figure out what the rest of the problems were and how to solve them!

If you ask me, were there some wisdom behind this situation?

Of course! There's always wisdom behind everything that had happened.

First of all, if hadn't for what had happened, I wouldn't have tried to fix my prayer. My prayer wasn't a priority at the time, school was! I would put my prayer in a later time, because I had to do my assignment right away :(
Later I realized, how I had my priority upside down. It should have been my prayer first!

Second of all, if hand't for what had happened, I wouldn't give up my sunday to teach my little cousin Quran. Now I realized that, this very galau time that I had taught me about life. It's not always about getting ahead, sometime it's about sacrifice and sharing with others, especially with whom you love :)

Third of all, I've been cooking! Yeah! :D I usually hate cooking and won't make the time for it. Now I figure, since I'm going to become a mom one day, so why not learn? :D

Fourth of all (this is crucial on my part), I become more dependent on GOD. I needed Him. Every second, every minute, every day, I can't live without God! I become aware that I am just a piece of dust, who is worthless, if not what He has made me worth of.

And of course, there are more things I've learned from this situation which I can't write down because it' s midnight here already! I need to sleep people! :D

I just wish that this coming semester (winter semester) will be better. Hopefully, I can focus in achieving my dreams, while making ALLAH as my top priority. Wish me luck guys, and hopefully I'll be getting As in my classes! >,<

***PS: I haven't been able to sleep lately. I've been galau. I really hope next semester will be better. Insya ALLAH. Aamiin Ya Rabb :)
